A cold afternoon at Poltair Park saw the visit of an inconsistent Grampound side buoyed by a win the previous week. St Austell were also in confident mood after a big derby win at fortress par track in their last encounter with Biscovey, the tea hut crowd were expecting a thriller. Town were in their changed strip of skin tight white.
St Austell were without several regulars : lee Harvey working, Zidane away, Ross Sundercoumbe spear chucking and Richards Osbourne MIA at a stag do slash stock check. Injury also robbed the lillywhites of Phil Hutchins who’s ankle injury is proving to be a real worry to the management and also the rest of the lads as his lineman skills are shocking!!! Luke Buckland once again stepped in between the sticks but was rarely troubled. The match began in typical fashion for St Austell, very slowly! As once again it took them 30 minutes to warm up, Grampound without ever really threatening caused the Town back four a few problems early on and the game was scrappy to say the least, this was most evident when following the only good passing move of the first half Luke Patton uncharacteristically blazed over from 6 yards, the ball ironically ending up in his old front garden! The breakthrough came just after, a clumsy foul in the box resulting in a Patton penalty, 1 nil Town. The game was still all over the place, and with little good passing going on frustration began to creep in, this was eased slightly after Nick Bennetts clever lob put St Austell 2 nil up on the stroke of half time, a poor first 45 then and little sign of the carnage to follow.

2nd team goalkeeper anton lake has left the club after a season with them. he had a very succesful season with the saints winning duchy 5 with the club and only conceding 20 goals in 20 games. rumour has it that he has gone to play for foxhole but not as a keeper. will he be missed by the club we will soon see.

we are the biggest town in the county but we cant even raise to sides of 30 players which is a disgrace! u could blame the former first team manager andy ball but he wasnt really helped by the commitee! we have got plenty of good players in the area of st.austell and alot of them are young. the commitee needs to adress this problem as soon as possible and bring in the young and good local lads to play for whats was a prestigous club untill last year! as a local to the club i feel embaressed to say that my local tem is st.austell! so sort it out or soon u will not have any supporters what so ever, which isnt good for the club and also the town of st.austell

Well im here 0000's of miles away in Bali, and i found out the score of St Austell vs Premier 6's in the most bizzare fashion, us boys were in a bar watching man city vs west ham, and me and golley were talking random shite about our old clubs we used to play for and some lad over heard us and well, HE ONLY BLOODY PLAYED FOR PREMIER 6'S WHEN WE DICKED THEM 5-0!!!! after we talked for a bit he said he recognised me but as it was 3 in the morning and we were a little drunk it was random to say the least, so a few beers and some mocking over St Austell amazing team, me and dna (prem 6's guy) are getting on alright, in our area of Bali, there are 7 people from st austell and newquay area its crazy.
well done lads one hands on the trophy for sure now, keep playing well and i look forward to hearing the next results soon. Gary (in hot Bali, where bottles of beer are 50p!!!)

Can i just be the first to say, that i personally feel proud to be associated and part of the squad (altho i didnt play) today, where we have just beaten the "unbeatable" Premier Sixes, in their backyard....5nil!
The 2nd team are St Austell thru and thru, and like a great St AUstell supporter said to me this week, St AUstell finally have a team to watch out for!!! |
